“I was onstage with Led Zeppelin at Kezar Stadium, and there were some white doves in cages that were to be released at the end of ‘Stairway.’ When the signal was given to release them, out they went …but one circled for a moment and flew right into Robert’s hands. Robert was the prince of peace, the golden god, and this photo would look ridiculous with anybody else holding the bird. Any other male, that is.” - James Fortune (Photographer)

Newton’s third law says that forces come in equal and opposite pairs. This means that when air exerts lift on an airplane, the airplane also exerts a downward force on the air. This is clear in the image above, which shows a an A380 prototype launched through a wall of smoke. When the model passes, air is pushed downward. The finite size of the wings also generates dramatic wingtip vortices. The high pressure air on the underside of the wings tries to slip around the wingtip to the upper surface, where the local pressure is low. This generates the spiraling vortices, which can be a significant hazard to other nearby aircraft. They are also detrimental to the airplane’s lift because they reduce the downwash of air. Most commercial aircraft today mitigate these effects using winglets which weaken the vortices’ effects. (Image credit: Nat. Geo./BBC2)

English is not my native language.

So everytime I type something wrong or use the wrong word or the wrong tempus or grammar etc. I always get paranoid that someone who has english as their native language, will read what I wrote and spot all the mistakes I made and think, “Is she stupid or something?” or “Daamn, her english is horrible, I am never going to speak to her”.

… until you realize that native English speakers make mistakes too (often far worse than yours).

(I still can’t get over the fact that people actually confuse they’re/their/there and randomly use its/it’s or your/you’re)
